Recycled Bead Feeder for a Blue Jay
The other day, I posted the progress of my beaded Blue Jay on my Facebook page . Since my Blue Jay was hungry, I dug through my bead stash and found him some beads! Most of these beads are recycled beads .

Blue beads and building blocks
On Saturday night I was chatting to Marios, Aysu and Maria about the Evil Eye. They were saying how, in the Eastern Mediterranean, complimenting a person or an item of clothing was akin to jinxing the item or person in question. So, for protection against the myriad compliments this blog provokes from my lovely reader-types , I should include a talisman of some description. (Look to the right –>) I’d not heard of this superstition before .

Beaded Corner Marquee
Yesterday, I completed another section of my beaded Radio City Music Hall marquee. At the point where the marquee turns the corner, I switched from red hex cuts to translucent blue size 15 seed beads. It’s a pretty drastic change, but I think it makes the corner effect look more realistic in a sense. What do you think? Now, I have one more section of felt to bead, then I can move on to the next felt portion of my bead-painting. :D Semi-beaded Radio City Music Hall (NYC) Bead embroidery on felt. Beadwork 16″ x 2.75″. Work in progress. Also, just a few quick notes. I did finish the blue beaded Venetian Angel Christmas ornament that I was working on earlier this week. You can see it in my Etsy shop I have listed this item as Made-to-Order for anyone who is interested. I also listed my Time Traveler Trilogy for sale. This is my beaded DeLorean Time Machine triptych inspired by the 1985 film Back to the Future You can view the listing HERE

I found inner strength in a strand of beads
I took notes while I was stringing the beads so I would remember what each one meant and why I’d picked it. I’m glad I did. I probably would have forgotten five minutes later and you’d have nothing to read right now. I picked the black crinkled heart because black can symbolize the ultimate mystery and introspection. It seemed like a great place to start any quest for inner peace. Every step I take is into uncharted waters, I like to think I take it with heart. I picked the series of blue beads because blue can symbolize relaxation and mediation. You need to know your true intentions before you move forward and you can’t know that without relaxing and looking inward. I picked the two spirals to symbolize the inward journey and then the outward journey. This little silver sliver that says simply “Now” is there to remind myself to stay focused on the present moment. It’s always too easy to get lost in the what-ifs and the what-whens. Now is always more important. I picked two pink beads to symbolize love.

More Bead Distractions!
Iwas so happy to read yesterday’s comments and discover that I’m not alone, I thought I’d share a few more bead distractions. These are cute, funny, mezmerizing and interesting! They are the kind of beads you might never use, but will come back to appreciate, laugh at, stare at and wonder about. That crazy foot bead is too much! It was an unexpected discovery in a bead shop mix. How fun! The robot is actually a bead with a top and bottom bead cap shaped as a robot!! I am in LOVE with the deep blue bead with the swarovski sparkle in the middle! And, finally the bird bead reminds me so much of the “quetzlcoatl” creature in an old sci-fi movie, it’s scary! I’d love to see or hear about your collections of intersting, mezmerizing and totally distracting beads!! :)

More pretty beads!
When I sat at my workbench today, I had every intention of finished the curly goose-feather fascinator started on Monday. But some matt blue beads I’ve been considering gave me the eye and I saw how to make the best of them. I know it sounds silly but until I’ve ‘seen’ a thing in my mind, I don’t start to make it. So, throws aside silly old goose feathers, makes artless, pretty necklace that really almost made itself. The different blues in the glass look quite submarine in a dreamy way as if it is for a mermaid. Flushed with success, I progressed to a parure in aragonite with freshwater pearl spacers and a faceted topaz centrepiece on the necklace. It gleams against the skin like sunlight behind the clouds. I don’t go to work, I go to play. Permalink | Leave a comment ?

Bargains, Beads and Blue
The Beginning : Thanks to Wanda , I realize there is another lesson in the Design-Tat course. I had totally forgotten about it as my mind has been wandering and meandering aimlessly in a fog this past week. I read her post last night and realized I had better get to work. Thank you, Wanda, for the brainwave! I am not following Sharon ‘s instructions to the “T”, but close enough, and I am excited about this piece… if it works. Stay tuned. *********** As I was going through the instructions for this lesson, I started to think about all that I have learned. since September. The learning kind of sneaks up on you, and all of a sudden you seem to know a lot more than before the course. There is a lot to assimilate, and it gets sort of absorbed as you work through the lessons. I had never designed a thing before, and I am beginning to feel more confident about trying more, stretching my creative impulses. I have to say that this course is… BRILLIANT!

Outfit: Blue Tuesday
I liked my outfit so much when I wore a pencil skirt with my Betty Boop t shirt a month or so back that Ive put together a couple of variations on it this week. This is the first one C tops that I would usually only wear with jeans, paired with a pencil skirt and heels. Im glad of the layers actually C its a bit cloudy and windy out today. Tonight is drama group committee and I dont feel the slightest bit guilty about missing my gym class for it, following the weekends cycling antics and the fact that I am just a little achy from the gym last night. BAFTA in Blue
This past weekends British Association of Film and Television dinner welcoming the royal couple, William and Kate, to Los Angeles, was an unusual fashion event for this town. It was all about simplicity and elegance C not over the top glamour or sex appeal. Two of the biggest stars there, Nicole Kidman and Jennifer Garner, really got it right. Garner opted for this assymetrical YSL gown in a great shade of navy blue. What a perfect color: black would have been too somber and stark, red or white too festive, gold or orange just all wrong. You really can never go wrong with navy blue. Nicole Kidman opted for a light blue beaded Elie Saab C a designer she rarely wears. But this is also a color Kidman rarely wears, so its exciting to see her in it, and she looks chic and dignified C which she always does. So yes, we love blue in the evening C from navy to sky blue to midnight blue. And its flattering to everyone.
