Summer NAMM: New Gear in Videos, Photos, for Guitarists, DJs, Vocalists, Producers
EH showed off other new products, including the Germanium 4 Big Muff Pi distortion/overdrive (so named because of its 4 germanium transistors), the Neo Clone (smaller version of the Small Clone analog chorus), and tiny Headphone Amp . In the video below, Larry with EH gave CDM a demonstration of these effects as well as the Ring-Thing Ring Modulator . Ed.: Or, as they describe it, to be semantic, a “single sideband modulator.” The unique thing about the Ring-Thing is that you can tune it from an incoming signal and avoid the unwieldy dissonance that come from most ring mods. Of course, unwieldy dissonance is a ring mod’s main charm. But should you want it to sound more musical, you have that option.

Swarovski Love…Prisms!
Question: Is it wrong to use prisms in jewelry pieces? Answer: Not as long as they are swarovski crystal prisms!! How would you like to wear this 38mm crystal around with you all day? Mmmm, sounds like a great idea to me! After posting the 40mm Swarovski Sun prism on Monday that I used in a necklace design a while back, it dawned on me that maybe they aren’t supposed to be used in jewelry. Then I got my wits about me and started searching for MORE prisms! Here are a couple of great links in case you are interested. Just imagine the fabulously large and sparkly jewelry you can make with these! Check them out here: Rings-Things and the Sundrop Crystal Giftshop The above prism is the 38mm Aspen Swarovski Crystal! Please remember to COMMENT HERE TO WIN a mystery swarovski crystal

Peace Sign Sparkle & Exciting News!
I was walking on a cloud for sure!! I gave a copy to my Mom for Mother’s Day because the project is based on a quilt that my maternal Grandma made for me when I was a kid. She was more than over the moon, I must say and discovered that she could order extra copies of the magazine through the Bead Trends magazine site for some other members of the family. I’m so glad you are all here with me to enjoy this ride!! THANK YOU! What’s On Your Beading Wish List?
Ijust received the 60 page fall Rings & Things catalog. I have my eye on a few things. Ok, these copper vintage collection beads are really cool. They are about 1″ in size so you can easily add several to a design. Check out the beads with the steampunk locks on them.

Always Time for Cats
One of my bracelets won a “Polly’s Picks” award in last year’s Rings&Things design contest. That’s right…last year! I forgot to share the tutorial with you. Sorry! Never pass up an opportunity to combine techniques and imagery that you love. During my busy days, I sometimes have to remind myself that there are two small furry creatures who share my house and need a turn receiving my attention. This mixed media bracelet is my reminder
I used finger-pull sliding closet door hardware to create the cabochons, with epoxy and cat images. They are mounted on ultra-suede and have embroidery embellishments in the form of cat fur and whiskers made from beads. The other alternating disks are decorated with watch faces and parts to remind me to slow down and pet the kitties.

A sparkling rivoli pendant
Ibought a pair of beautiful 14mm fuchsia Swarovski rivolis from Rings&Things recently, and have been mulling over how to use them ever since. Finally, I gathered together some 4mm and 8mm Swarovski bicones, along with some beautiful seed beads, and got working! As you know, I most often turn to bead embroidery to make pendants and necklaces, but this time I thought it might be fun to use bead weaving instead. The bezels for rivolis stitch up fast. I’ve included the exact numbers of beads that I used, but you may find your count differs depending upon exactly what beads you use and how tight your tension is.
