I was a bit apprehensive at buying a diamond ring online. When I finally warmed up to the idea after doing my share of research, I only wanted to buy from the”big”names. Then I stumbled upon Dara’s one night and compared their prices to others and they beat everyones hand down.I then called them to make sure I was not going to be swindled into buying a lower quality diamond. I spoke to a Ryan, and he could not have been anymore helpful. He reassured me and even told me which one of my choices to buy. After talking to him a little bit more he showed me their diamond education page and guided me with the different types of diamond qualities. I bought a 1 carat D color and VS2 clarity diamond. Before I bought it I compared it to other jewelry stores here in NY and even some others online like Zales. Dara’s definitely had them all beat by a huge margin! When it finally came I was a little anxious opening it, but it was perfect and my girlfriend, now fiance bridal jewelry sets, loved it also!!
I just made my second purchase from Dara’s and I couldn’t be happier. I bought a beautiful 3 stone diamond ring for my mother’s birthday several months ago, and just got a lovely pair of diamond studs to match for mother’s day. You really can’t beat the price, quality, fast and friendly customer service, and flexible return policy. They have diligently answered my phone questions with both purchases. I am quite the bargain shopper cabochon jewelry, and definitely wasn’t able to find a retailer that was able to even closely beat their prices (plus I found an additional yelp promo code which made the deal even better) for the same quality/size stone. I also LOVED the online search option that allowed me to narrow down the studs I wanted by price point, clarity, and size of the stone… this was definitely a cool feature that made shopping much easier! The other great perk was their lifetime upgrade/exchange policy so that my mom can choose to upgrade her ring/earrings down the line if she wants.Delivery was prompt, their return policy gave me peace of mind in my purchase, and the earrings were fabulous! What a great find bangle bracelets!
I had been considering buying a diamond pendant for a while and did a lot of research on the best deal. I randomly stumbled across this place through Yelp and was pleasantly surprised with the prices, products, service and value. I was hesitant in buying jewelry online but I’m so glad I went for it. After I placed the order a sales rep called me about 30 min later to go over the diamond quality. It was a pretty educational conversation and they answered all my questions which was so reassuring. I received the pendant on schedule and it was simply beautiful. I will definitely use them again.
So I was little skeptical to buy jewelry online, especially diamonds since I don’t know that much about them. ?I’ve been wanting a pair of diamond earrings forever (and my bf won’t take the hints)… ?I got a big fat bonus check from work so I decided to splurge. ?I found Dara’s in a google search and compared their prices to some other sites and they seemed to be the most reasonable. ?I was still a little hesitant so I called and spoke to one of their customer services reps (Ryan maybe?). ?He walked me through some of the diamond basics and helped me make a selection…he even gave me a coupon code for 5% off since I was a first time customer! ?I was really pleased with my earrings… they were definitely the bling I was looking for! ? I would totally recommend Dara’s!

My beautiful engagement ring came from Jewels by Joe. While I was not personally involved in choosing it, my fianc and I recently went back to the store to take a look at wedding bands and I must say… they have great selection of engagement rings, wedding rings and other jewelry. Service is great – staff is very knowledgeable, pleasant and helpful, but not pushy. I don’t like pushy and I find that jewelry stores are more often than not will try hard to sell you something. Not this place. And, most importantly, prices are very competitive.
AMAZING! Maya, Mr Joe and Mama Joe (Mayas Mom / Joes Wife). Its a family business. Awesome people! My experience was unlike any other jeweler. ?I definitely shopped around in downtown and these guys were so gentle and so helpful. ?I really expected hard sales and got the exact opposite. ?They really just wanted to fit something into my price range and not push the issue too much. ?Super helpful with diamond education and so patient with showing stones and settings. I could not find a better place to recommend. ?These peeps are top notch. ?I had a great a experience,Thanks so much Maya!!!My best to youdave garcia (recent buyer of a cushion cut diamond with a halo setting and mini d band)Muchas gracias!!!
I wish someone would have warned me about the quality of rings here because I’m definitely paying for it in the long run. ?My husband and I both bought our wedding bands here. ?My platinum diamond band cracked in 3 places 2 years later; literally cracked in half. ?Assuming they would help fix my band for free because this surely was a problem in the craftsmanship and does not occur with normal wear and tear; I was told this was my fault, it could have been anything I did including hitting a door handle too hard when I was opening it. ?I treat my jewelry extremely well and can’t imagine anything I do that would cause a platinum ring to crack 2 years after purchase. ?Long story short, they agreed to give me a white gold band in its place because it would cost them too much to fix the platinum. ?Oh and now 2 years after that, one of the diamonds fell out of the white gold band. ?I’m learning that sometimes it is better to pay more for my jewelry to ensure good craftsmanship and customer service.
This place was referred to me by a co-worker, and I couldn’t be more grateful to my co-worker. ?Maya, and fam, were very friendly and helpful. ?I think we both walked away happy with what we got brooches and pins, and that’s fair in my mind. ?Definitely a place worth checking out!
My husband bought my engagement ring here and I bought his wedding band here as well. ?The people who work here are absolute dolls! So sweet earring findings, kind and helpful. ?Maya was the best! (Not just because we share the same name ;) ?) ?My ring is BEYOND gorgeous and the quality is awesome! I get so many compliments on the quality of the diamonds and how sparkly it is! I was so glad that my husband didn’t have to go through the hassle of high pressure sales and steep prices at other jewelry stores. ?The band I purchased was 200 dollars less than I had seen it elsewhere. ?I am in LOVE with my ring and so thankful that my husband found Joe’s!
When searching for my engagement ring, my husband and I went to dozens of the jewelry stores ?and never found what we were looking for. We knew we wanted something custom made but thought it was way out of our price range…until we ended up at Jewels By Joe.Jewels By Joe was the last store we went to on the last day we visited the LA Jewelry District and we were SO SICK of being hustled and up-sold and just felt discouraged. Enter Maya/Jewels By Joe. She treated us like actual people even though we didn’t have a crazy huge budget. She listened to what we wanted, showed us any and everything we asked to see and discussed with us all of our options. We ended up with a BEAUTIFUL ring that was over twice the size we were expecting to be able to afford that we were able to custom design ourselves, with the help of Maya and Joe. I get compliments on my ring all the time…and just keep to myself how affordable it actually was. We were so happy we went back and bought our wedding bands and bridal jewelry there as well. ?They will clean and inspect your jewelry at any time for free. The customer service lasts for life. I am going back to have my ring cleaned and inspected tomorrow and just to chat with Maya and our wedding was a year and a half ago. Of course spacer beads, do your own research and explore your options for yourself. But you can also do yourself a huge favor and save yourself a ton of time (and money!) by putting Jewels by Joe on your list of places to consider. We are customers for life!
What a wonderful experience to shop for an engagement ring and find Maya! She was helpful and knowledgeable and sooo not pushy! We had read a lot of good things about Jewels by Joe and shopped there first. We then shopped some more and we used them as a comparison but they were the best! I am a photographer and I have seen a lot of rings in my life and heard a lot of bad stories about buying rings, but Maya made it so easy.Thank you for a great shopping experience!Pierre Comtois
Maya is AMAZING! ?My fiance bought my ring from her after receiving a stellar recommendation from his brother-in-law (Maya made my fiance’s sister’s ring, a stunning Tacori replica that I have admired since she got it almost 6 years ago). ?Maya understood our vision for my ring immediately and executed the custom design flawlessly. ?She worked with my fiance for 6 Saturdays choosing the perfect stone (that’s what I call customer service!). ?In the end, I got THE ring of my dreams, I swear the little girl inside me thought it up years ago without my knowing it, and when I saw it in my fiance’s hand as he was on bended knee, I knew it was the ring I was always meant to wear. ?I have even found myself walking right past engagement ring displays at other jewelery stores, not even bothering to look (yes, past Tiffany, Harry Winston, and Cartier, something I NEVER would have imagined myself doing) because I know that no ring I will see in those windows could even come close to the one I have on my finger. ?We are officially Jewels by Joe customers for life!
My fiance went here for my ring after being referred by his sister. ?I can not ?put into words how gorgeous my ring is!!! ?After getting my ring we both went into see Maya to pick out our wedding bands. ?She knew my name from my fiance and treated me so special. ?Everyone there was so helpful and not pushy in any way. ?They truly have the best staff, prices, and selection. I would recommend this place to everyone. I know for certain that I will never go anywhere else for jewelry.

I’m a fan saving money buying high-end jewelry at affordable prices. ?This is the place to go buy nice jewelry!Parking is diagonally across the street from St. Vincent Jewelry Center; please make sure you have cash upfront when going to park your car! ?Look at the picture I posted.
Great place to come for your jewelry needs. There are tons of vendors that you’re sure to find something you are looking for. Being that it’s in DTLA, the worse is finding parking. The farther you park the cheaper it is. I usually park at the lot near 8th street and Olive for $5 all day. There are metered street parking. It depends on how long you plan to stay. If you can, I’d highly suggest taking the Metro here.Overall, this is your one stop shop for your jewelry needs. Just realize it’s a lot pricier than Claire’s at the mall. Also if you’re lucky you’ll see someone famous or catch the entertainment industry shooting a movie or commercial.
This place is awesome. This is where my fiance and i picked out our wedding bands. I recommend people to go to the Cosmo counter (I think it’s either in building 1 or 4 Body Jewelry, don’t remember… it’s not the one with the parking garage attachment.). It’s run by an elderly asian couple and they were wonderful. They worked very patiently with us on picking out our rings and were very knowledgeable in how certain rings look on us and what suits my engagement ring. They custom made our bands and upgraded the gold from 14k to 18k (when most places here just sell 14k). The most amazing thing was that the prices were way cheaper than anywhere else we looked. Our 18k bands cost less than other places that quoted us for 14k bands. For all those people planning on buying jewelry, this is the place to be!
I went here after a job fair. It’s not that hard to find. parking can be difficult ‘cuz of the different lots (and prices). As for the jewelry, I suggest you bargain and look at mulitple places before you buy anything. There seems to be other jewelry stores and pawns shops within a few blocks. Some places offered more of a discount with cash. I didn’t eat at the food court. But, I noticed a pizza place and an Italian restaurant nearby.
Parking can be difficult. ? Prices are low and they staff were helpful when we needed help. ?They took their time to search and even to dig out jewelery from the back. ? They were very patient.
5 stars for being unequivocally impressed. The only thing I can equate it to is a food court, a really big food court, that only has jewelry and diamonds. I went in to find a specific pair of earrings (just hoops) because one of them had been lost. Well, everybody’s got so much stuff that it was almost difficult to find the simple earrings that I wanted. However pearl earrings, I found a pair in yellow gold for $12 at one booth antique pocket watches, and a pair at another booth in white gold for $30. What a deal, right? They weighed them out and everything, and explained to me why they cost “so much” and I was just in awe since I was remembering how much I’d paid retail for the same earrings when I bought them at a mall. Ouch. I shopped around some of the booths in the meantime. They have everything your heart could possible desire. Especially when it comes to engagement rings. It crossed my mind that it might be nearly impossible to pick out an engagement ring from this place out of the thousands and thousands of settings they have on display. But, hey, it was great to look. After seeing what this stuff costs wholesale (most merchants charge 1% over wholesale in order to make a profit) it just seems very silly to buy jewelry any place else.Everyone who worked there was really helpful, too. One lady even went to the back for about 15 minutes for me to fish out the little white gold hoops I wanted. If you want to buy jewelry or just look around for several hours at lots of it, this is the place to be.
You really better know your stuff if you are going to venture into this den of thieves.

Stumbled upon this place hole wandering the city( via Yelp!). I’m so happy I found it! The quirky little shop is filled with beautiful jewelry, amazing art prints, kitschy vintage store finds, beautiful journals and knickknacks! The store also has a beaded jewelry making station. I started talking with the owner and the owners daughter ( possibly the owner and the owners mom?) and they couldn’t be any nicer! I started asking for tips of other places to venture to in the area and they were more than happy to help. I will definitely be back, hopefully for one of their art gallery events!
I went in and spent $80!!! HOW DID THAT HAPPEN???!!!?!?!!I just went in to get a gift for my friend’s bridal shower!! And then I also ended up getting something for my sister and more than a few things for myself!! GAH!!!! Leanna Lin, you are a wicked, wicked genius!!!!
Wonderland lives up to it’s name. ?It’s a fabulous shop, gallery, studio where you can find unique and fun gifts mostly created by local artisians. ?They’ve also got tons of colorful beads available for you to create your own piece. ?You can stop by anytime and start beading. ?Leanna Lin will also take your old jewelry and re-create something new and exciting.Truly a unique and magical place you must experience it!
Great place for unique, pop-culture oriented jewelry, gifts and art at reasonable prices. ?Not to mention vintage ceramics and kitschy housewares. ?So colorful and exciting to visit – something new every time! ?Monthly NELA events are great way to see what’s new in-store, listen to music, take in local art and grab a bite to eat in a social environment! Can’t wait to book a jewelry making event for my nieces and nephews!
Oh goodness! ? I do not usually fall all over myself for stores and objects that fall into the “cute” genre… but I do fall, over and over and over again for this delightful and de-lovely store. If you adore jewelry that is innovative, fresh and local, then you have arrived in heaven. ?If you need a gift for someone that is fun between the ages 3-83 look no more! They have inspired designs that are often times sourced from vintage materials. (Beautiful Czech glass beads!) ? Marvelous and affordable ?housewares and a wonderful changing gallery from local artists that is always within your tightest budget. The staff here are superbly helpful and friendly. ?If you should want for help, it is offered… though I doubt that the only help you might need is what NOT to take home, as their inventory is so well chosen that you feel terrible leaving without every item you fell in love with.
I work in the “fashion” industry – and I have a lot of creative, design-y friends. Shopping for them can be a bit of a challenge. Walking into this place for the first time to buy a birthday gift for one of them, I felt like I could (almost) literally pick up ANY object in the store and give it to ANY such friend, and they would be pleased with it. This store has: pretty, fun, hip jewelry; cute hair accessories; beautiful and affordable glass and ceramic pieces; adorable teeny tiny terrariums with little tiny succulents in them; great Japanese toys and collectible figures (DOMO!!!!!); and cool-and-cute-as-hell T shirts made by Spicy Brown. As mentioned in other reviews, a lot of the stuff is made by local artists, including the proprietress herself. Leanna is genuinely warm, friendly and helpful – and I really had the sense that this is SO much more than a moneymaking venture for her; rather, it feels like a labor of love. I bought my friend a lovely T shirt. Meantime, my husband and I were so blown away by the limited edition, signed Shepard Fairey Hello Kitty piece mentioned by Anna K (that he did for the Sanrio 50th anniversary) that we had to go back and buy it next day. When we went back, Leanna was hosting a sweet Mother’s Day event that involved vegan cookies and mimosa. Hard to go wrong there! In short: a sweet, artful, fun store with great local goods right here in the Northeast. Perfect.
BEAUTIFUL things all around. ?Cute jewelry, creative and bright and happy things. Omg it is like wonderland when You come in here. ?Leanna is also very helpful and knowledgeable and patient. ?You also feel a sense of community and support here. ?The Jewelry here is amazin, I want to go back and buy some.!If you like Hello Kitty or San X stuff COME HERE there is some jewelry here made by a local artist I think. ?CHECK ITsupport local artsupport your community! They even have cupcake and ice cream lip gloss, Owl pillows, so many adorable happy cute things. YOU MUST COME HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!Happy bright colors. ?Just a lovely place. ?Bring money! :D woo! CHECK IT when you’re out in Eagle Rock!
I was having my hair done at Double-O with Cynthia and I mentioned that I was in a pinch to buy a birthday gift for a girlfriend. She hooked me up with Leanna Lin’s Wonderland a couple of doors down. I was surprised to discover a store that would have been the store I would have opened if I had the guts. I swear, when I opened the door, there was a chorus singing in my head and spotlights going around the whole store, like in the movies. It’s Japanese Hello Kitty artsy hip. I bought a cute tee for my friend with a bday momiji doll. Since it was close to Valentine’s day and my wedding anniversary, I picked up a heart momiji doll and the cutest card there. I also picked up a limited addition Hello Kitty doll. See, didn’t I tell you it was a store that mirrors my heart? She had one of the limited edition print from the Sanrio anniversary was late last year. There are lots of fun and cute things to purchase for your grown up girlfriends. Leanna is very helpful and makes her own jewelry. So what are you waiting for? Step into Wonderland!
Okay we have been back here a few more times since our first visit. Each time we visit this cute store, we see more new merchandise and vintage finds for sale. This is bad, bad meaning good!! We love everything here and want to take them all home. Wish we have all the space in the world. Still loving the store’s vibe and the endless new stuff they just keep finding their way into the store’s shelves. Stop it already Leanna, they’re all too cute and we just can’t resist them all. Love, love, love this store!!!
It has been a long time since I have been in a store where my eyes exploded and my heart wanted all that was around me. I am in love with this new store located in the wonderful Eagle Rock area of Los Angeles. There are handmade stuffies & hair trinkets & a ton of other awesome stuff. I found small strawberry earrings that reminded me of the ones that I had when I was a wee chitlin. For $20 (not including a discount of 10%) I purchased the earrings, two buttons, a hair elastic, and two kawaii deers. The prices were really good & this is a great place to go for gifts. The owner (who was very sweet) also makes jewelry, she mentioned that she will be having classes at some point. The store is super bright & I loved the bright pink door! I will be back!
I know cute, and Leanna Lin’s Wonderland is wonderfully cute. Every neighborhood should have a shop like this one. Leanna Lin’s Wonderland is a jewelry shop, cute boutique, and gallery space rolled into one. You’ll find handmade jewelry, Spicy Brown apparel, beads, and cute knickknacks. Currently the gallery space is hosting The Lucky Show, featuring artwork by Spicy Brown artists Sachiho Hino and Kazuko Shinoka. If you’re in Eagle Rock, you have to stop by Leanna Lin’s. Even if you’re not near Eagle Rock, this place is worth the drive.
This place is so- freaking- CUTE.The way this place is decorated is exactly what I wanted a room in my future home to look like. It’s bright and colorful without damaging your eyes. Everything you can ever want for small gifts for yourself or for other is right here. From cute little cups, to eclectic pop jewelry, bags, artwork, accessories, t-shirts, and small wallets. Most, if not all, of the jewelry are from local artists and Leanna has her own line right at the register. As for t-shirts, she had a great selection of Spicy Brown shirts and merchandise because, hey, she’s friends with the artist! Go figure! I love me my Spicy Brown so I’m always happy to see different selections of the designs in this store. Also, there’s a great selection of art work lining the walls that are for sale, if you’re looking to drop some monies on those. It’s soo worth it~ Leanna also has a super cute selection of beadings and jewelry if you wanted to make your own custom gift for a friend. You can spend as little or as much as you want in this place, it’s all pretty affordable. I walked out with THE CUTEST little hair clip with a mouse (because my Chinese zodiac sign is the mouse) on it for only $5 and as much as it was an impulse buy Pearl jewelry, I wear it all the freaking time. It’s little things that like that make Leanna’s worth visiting. There’s also plenty of little events and sales going on with a couple of food trucks as a special guests so it’s actually great to join her email list as well as picking up the fliers. And whether it’s Leanna or her mom that’s manning the store, they are a pleasure to chat with, offering suggestions or simply sharing stories. They’re never pushy and always so nice. Whether I buy anything or not, I always leave this place with a smile. Go visit her!
This shop’s layout is very open and inviting and there are many different aspects to it. ?There are beads for making your own jewelry, items from local artists Wholesale Costume Jewelry, tees, handbags, and ready-to-wear jewelry (the jewelry made by the owner is quite nice). ? They also carry vintage household goods, and there is even an art show currently on display. We had an opportunity to meet the owner, Leanna Lin, and her mom, dad, and husband. They are extremely nice people to chat with, and each one of them is very knowledgeable about the items in the shop. For me, this shop gives a very positive vibe that I appreciate, and I even purchased a few vintage household items for my own collection. My wife was able to find gifts and artwork that just cannot be found anywhere else and wishes that Leanna would open up a store in South Bay.Five stars for Leanna Lin’s Wonderland!
SWEET TINY BABY JESUS IN A BABY BJORN. I love this place. I am in my art studio right now looking at the teeny, tiny pink and green deer I bought there. You heard me. Deer. Its VERY asian (ASIAN!) and very artsy and as wonderful as Wonderland. I am going there tomorrow to shamelessly plug my new bead making and I’m hoping she will carry some of my bottlecap charms as well. Maybe I’ll even teach a class or (PINCH ME) have a show there sometime in the future. Leanna Lin is as cute as she is nice. She has great taste and is running a beautifully stocked/art directed shop/gallery. Do yourself a favor? and check it out. you won’t regret it. Its worth a trip to the ROCK!
The moment I walked into this lovely little shop I squealed with delight! It has the perfect eclectic mix of mid century home accessories and vintage jewelry and kawaii cute Japanese objects of all kinds…and beautiful designs from local artists! Such a well curated collection. My husband commented that he now knows where to buy all of my presents. Yay!The owner is cute as a button too, and super nice!
I got almost all my Christmas presents from Leanna last year and everyone loved them! This shop is just delightful and Leanna is a total doll, super-talented, and has just really put together an enchanting place to shop, browse, be inspired, etc. She also sells beads and a big work table at which she encourages people to come and make projects!! I wish I was able to make it to Eagle Rock with greater frequency so I could visit more often. I can’t wait to go back!
I can always count on Leanna Lin’s Wonderland to have exactly the right gift to give my friends, family and even co-workers. Funky, yet sophisticated, this little gem of a store has brightened up Eagle Rock. Their prices are very affordable, and you can buy from local artists. Also, tip for vintage collectors keep checking in to see what’s new in their inventory. There is a constant turnover in pretty 50′s housewares, and I’ve even see Japanese antiques. I love this shop! What can I say?
Very cute boutique for the girls, this is where I go to find cute unique gifts that you can’t find just anywhere. Also really interesting rotation of artwork once a month.
I ADORE this store. The owner Leanna is extremely helpful & adorable. She has a great eclectic sense of style from retro to modern. It really is a whimsical wonderland filled with art, beads, vintage porcelain, toys and overall cuteness. She has fun art nights and it’s a really unique place to get someone a gift, or indulge in something for yourself.
I like shiny things and it is pretty clear that the owner/proprietor of Leanna Lin has put a lot of herself into this showcase of arts/crafts she loves. ?There are plenty of interesting things to squint and puzzle at–as somebody as craft-challenged myself would do–but mostly this store exhudes charm. ?Don’t be shy, walk in and say hi.
I am so happy I finally stopped in. ?It is a wonderland! ?there are carefully selected vintage pieces mixed with shiny new things and lots of beautiful local art for sale. ?I don’t think you could go in and not buy something. ?Too bad you won’t be able to buy the kitty salt and pepper shakers because I got ‘em.
Wonderland it is. Lets just say that over the years I have collected two jewelery boxes full of original Leanna Lin Jewelery wholesale jewelry, Some of my most prized jewelery .So naturally just like a big fan when I heard that she is opening a store I was so excited . Tiny shop that seems to have a lot of yellow gold rings at good prices. Many of the designs are ornate. The owner is very nice and helpful.Best to park across the street at Pershing Square as it’s really close to this place and all the jewelry district.

I bought my engagement ring from Oscar. ? Oscar was fantastic — he is a true craftsman who came up with a beautiful design and implemented it flawlessly, and my fiancee loved the ring he made for her. I knew nothing about engagement rings, but this was a hugely important purchase. ?I went to about 15 different stores, and my fiancee liked Oscar’s designs the best of all of the places we looked. ? ?We were both very comfortable with him, and he gave us some really useful information about options that other merchants simply hadn’t provided (ask him about platinum versus gold rings, for example). Here is a list of the pros and cons I took away from the experience:Cons:Oscar is really busy. ?He is extremely friendly about it CZ jewelry, but expect to have to spend some time waiting for him while you are shopping for the ring. And in terms of delivery time, we weren’t in a huge hurry to have the ring delivered, but it did take him 3 weeks to make the ring. ?That said, he knew we weren’t in a huge hurry, and he estimated 4 weeks, so he delivered in under his estimate.Communication: ?Oscar doesn’t immediately return emails. ?He did always eventually return the emails, and you can always call, but he isn’t a blackberry instant responder type. ?On the other hand, do you really need this in a jewelry designer?Pros: Craftsmanship: ?The ring he made was amazing. ? You can look at the workmanship under a microscope. ? He has a background as a purchaser of diamonds, so he gets amazing stones Sterling Silver Necklaces, and he does extremely high quality work with the ring. ?The one part he doesn’t do himself is the small diamonds around the band, but he has a particular craftsman he uses in San Diego who does an amazing job with those stones (micro pave). ? Integrity: ?You can tell that Oscar values his reputation much more than he values a sale. ?He is honest and straightforward in his interactions, and gives you the truth regardless of how it might impact a sale or his profit margin.Experience/Knowledge: ?One thing that drove me nuts when we were looking for rings was everyone telling me that platinum was more expensive than gold. ?I couldn’t understand why, since the metals are the same price now. ?Oscar was the only one who could explain why (there is much more platinum by weight in a platinum ring than in a gold ring of the same size). ?Between his comprehensive knowledge of diamonds and jewelry, you could just see the years of experience, and you were comfortable that you were in good hands.Professionalism: Oscar delivers what he promises. ?He goes out of his way to make sure you are satisfied. ?He knew I wanted the ring a bit early in order to propose the next weekend. ? He arranged to have it shipped back from the artisan who does the micro pave overnight. ? ? When we went to pick up the ring, my fiancees hands were a bit swollen, and Oscar and his staff stayed late to make sure the ring would fit comfortably and that we could take it with us that day.
When it came time for my husband to pop the question, he headed downtown in search for the perfect ring for me. ?He search high and low for a particular cut of diamond which can be hard to come by. ?He went to several stores and lo and behold he found it at Oscar’s. ?Oscar pulled out the stone from his personal collection and educated the hubby on the four C’s of the business. ?Since Joe had been running around the diamond district for a good part of the day, Oscar kindly treated him to free lunch while waiting on the ring. ?Oscar and his staff didn’t try to swindle my husband and gave him great customer service. ?With that being said, I went with Joe back to Oscar’s in search of my wedding band. ?One of the store associates assisted us. ?She listened to the type of ring I was looking for and gave her feminine input on what would pair nicely with my engagement ring. ?We made our purchase in under an hour. ?But when we got home my husband saw the 10% discount on Yelp and immediately called Oscar’s about it. ?Even after purchase, they kindly added the discount. ?Thank you Oscar’s for decorating my ring fingers with some beautiful pieces.
I had an amazing experience at Oscar’s Design! I designed the ring for my girlfriend and could not be HAPPIER :-) Oscar was patient, honest and helpful. I plan on going here many times in the future!
We love Oscar’s! ?great people, great jewelry, and the absolute best prices. ?Do not go to some fancy brand name store, do not buy anything online… go see Oscar. ?My fianc gets complemented on her ring all the time, and it’s all because Oscar took the time to describe to me what it was that’s important in buying an engagement ring. ?We just bought our wedding rings there too.
My fiance and I actually stumbled upon Oscar’s by chance-we arrived early for an appointment at another store downstairs, so we decided to explore the rest of the building. ?Thank goodness we found Oscar’s! ?The second we walked in, everyone was so welcoming and helpful, and the jewelry is just beautiful and of great quality. ?I felt that they truly wanted to help me find “the ring”, instead of just trying to make a sale. ?There are no high-pressure sales tactics here at all, which is rare downtown. ?They truly let the quality of the jewelry sell itself. ?And if you just can’t find that perfect piece…they will design it for you! ?Which is what we decided to do. ?I gave Oscar an idea of what I wanted, he added his creative input, and after exchanging emails (including photos of the wax mold and computer images of the to-be ring) and tweaking things here and there, they created a truly beautiful ring!We didn’t have a huge budget; they will definitely work with you to give you the best for what you can afford. ?I absolutely recommend Oscar’s not just for engagement/wedding rings but for any other jewelry. We ended up also getting my wedding band here, and that is just gorgeous as well. ?You just have to come in to see their pave work, it is just beautiful-everything is lined up so perfectly and the diamonds really sparkle and shine. ?Thanks so much to Oscar, Jean-Claude and Kay for always being so helpful!
The short of it: I didn’t have my wedding ring in time for my destination wedding. The really long of it….I got a call from Oscar 4 weeks after my wedding. He wanted to talk to me after seeing my original review on Yelp! He said he felt bad about my experience at his shop and said that he was upset about my review. He asked me to revisit my review. My dealings with Oscar had to do with my wedding band. It’s an emotional purchase. I agreed to revisit my review to see if I was too subjective/emotional, but before I could, I get an email from Yelp! saying my review has been removed. I can only assume he complained to Yelp! about my review and had it removed. Here is my second attempt to be less emotional and more objective with my experience at Oscars….I came to Oscar’s six weeks before my wedding. I had searched many stores looking for a ring. I found a nice ring at Oscar’s (created by another designer). I was working with Jean-Claude. I asked him if he could make a minor change to a ring he had in the case. He told me ‘no’, but that they could make the ring I wanted. I took the time to draw a sketch to illustrate what I was looking for. Jean-Claude assured me he could create the ring I wanted. I said okay and gave him my deposit. Jean-Claude told me that he would have the ring ready for me in a week. TWO weeks later, I HAD TO CALL them to check on my ring. They said it wasn’t ready yet, but would be done in a few days. An additional week later, I HAD TO CALL AGAIN. They said the ring was ready. I went to the shop to check it out. IT WAS NOTHING LIKE WHAT I REQUESTED. The frustrating part is that I drew a sketch and they had a ring almost exactly like it already in the shop. Obviously Jean-Claude wasn’t paying attention. To top if all off, the center diamond was crooked. Oscar eventually explained the process that they used (casting two different pieces, then putting them together). This was an issue on all 3 rings shown to me, the center stones were crooked on all of rings produced by Oscar.I became pretty upset at this point. Oscar then got involved. He apologized for the mix up. And said they would try it again and have it done in a couple of days. He even said that he would have one of his associates bring it to me when it was completed. It was at this time I asked Oscar, point blank, if he could really accomplish what I wanted. He reassured me that he could.I had to follow up with them again. Four weeks had passed by the time I saw the second ring. I met with his associate near my house (as promised, he did have someone drop it off). He said to keep it for the night and to let him know if I wanted to keep the ring. It was a very pretty ring and I did consider keeping it, but again, it was not what I asked for, nor was the center diamond straight…I returned the diamond the next day and asked for a refund of my deposit. He complied. I believe Oscar genuinely tried to send me off as a “happy” customer. He offered a very tempting price reduction on the third attempt at making my ring, due to my experience with his shop thus far. I eventually accepted the offer (due to the savings). I only had two weeks left until I left for my wedding. Needless to say, Oscar’s last attempt at my ring had nicks on it that couldn’t be buffed out and again, the center stone setting was crooked. At this point, I only had about a week before my wedding and I had to go to a different jeweler. The other jeweler (whom I won’t mention here since Yelp! may remove my review for that…) got my ring done in one shot with excellent service and communication, but because I had used up all of my time with Oscar’s, I didn’t have my ring in time for my wedding. ?I had to get married with a substitute steel band…After receiving the call from Oscar but before having my review removed from Yelp!, I was going to call Oscar back and give him a second chance…that way I could detail my review with what I was hoping would be a successful transaction between us. Since it is my belief (no proof, just circumstantial evidence) that he complained to Yelp! and had my review removed…I have no desire to do so. I will not go back to Oscars.
Not only have I featured Oscar on my TV news reports over the years… and not only have I featured Oscar on my Best Buys TV Show… and not only is Oscar listed on my website http://www.AlanBestBuy…… but I also got my wife’s engagement ring from Oscar. ?What more can I say?
So the economy is bad…everyone gets it. Times are tough and we’re all trying to save. Funny thing is, every time I go to Oscar’s his place is packed. I’ve gone on a Saturday afternoon, Tuesday morning, doesn’t matter). The other stores in the same building cannot say the same. On my last visit (to pick out wedding rings now that the engagement business is all done – satisfied customers coming back), this woman commented on how people just keep coming in, to which Oscar replied, “Yes, it gets busy sometimes.” I laughed and interjected saying that Oscar’s is always busy b/c he’s such a good jeweler, but he’s to humble to admit to his popularity. I think the world of Oscar, but judging by how busy he is, so does everyone else.
I recently got my engagement ring here. Spent over 4 months of research and found this cool place. The staff here is not pushy at all. I met Oscar, the owner, and he was just so laid back. I gave him my budget and what I want in a diamond. And he met my expectation. He gave me a good deal on the diamond too. Ask him and he would give you a brief education on diamonds. There’s a parking lot next to the building; it’s $5 for 3 minutes, maximum $12 or $15 (don’t remember) and it’s cheaper on the weekends after hours *sorry I’ll update this next time I get there*
Okay I agree that the owner is the nicest guy and really laid back, but our experience here wasn’t that great. Probably because it was a busy saturday.BIG TIP: do not go to the jewelry district on saturdays… that’s their busiest day of the week and they have a lot of additional hired hands helping. Some who really shouldn’t be doing sales. If you go on a week day you will have a totally unrushed, calm experience with a salesperson who can actually spend time with you.We had this really push guy with a thick russian accent that just kept pestering us with to look at diamonds when all we wanted was to look at ring settings. “How much do you want to spend?” “What size diamond?” “Don’t worry about the ring, not important, the diamond is the important, we can do whatever you want with the ring” “You want to look at some diamonds?” “Yes, no?”At the end of an hour of dealing with this pushy salesperson, my fiancee and I were completely drained and left not feeling any closer to finding the perfect ring…
I rarely give 5 stars, but I felt especially inclined to give Oscar 5 stars. ? I believe Oscar been in the business for, what, 18 years? ?He knows stones, he knows the jewelry market/business, and he knows he wants repeat customers by doing business that make his customers happy. ?There are a SIGNIFICANT number of jewelers in the downtown jewelry district, but I think you’ll find that Oscar’s is typically almost always busy. ?Why? ? Good, honest business generates repeat customers and referrals. ? I always have a pretty good sense of a person’s character/integrity, and I really truly think Oscar is a one-of a kind jeweler. ?He knows that many of his customers come here for very special purchases and they are spending their hard-earned money, and he respects that. ? I haven’t dealt with many high-end jewelers in my life, but you can pretty much guarantee I expect to have a long-term business-type relationship with Oscar (fortunate for him, unfortunate for my budget!), because of a previous purchase. ? If you’re in the market for bling, check this man out!!!
Been our jeweler for 10 years now. Oscar’s an expert gemologist and he provides excellent customer service. You deal with him directly and not with a sales guy like in other jewelry stores. ?Pricing is very competitive, actually better than big jewelry shops like the one down in Tustin.
I got my Simon G. e-ring and wedding band set from Oscars and it was breathtaking. When I first saw the rings, I could’ve sworn I literally stopped breathing for awhile before I started laughing uncontrollably and almost cried at the same time. The rings are just impeccable and a showstopper! Okay, maybe I’m a little bit biased since I did pick the design and this kind of purchase is very personal and subjective. But as a customer, I would say that Oscar delivered and gave me exactly what I expected…a very high quality item at a very reasonable price. After jotting down a few places (through yelp reviews) in the jewelry district, my other half and I went on our quest to find the “perfect” e-ring. The initial process was not easy and it was overwhelming. We were confused as to where to start and I didn’t even have a setting yet. But I knew the diamond shape that I wanted and I was hoping that looking around the stores would give me a better idea of a setting. I bumped into Oscars when looking for a setting and saw some Simon G settings that caught my eye in the store. For our second visit, I told Oscar I wanted to look at diamonds too, and gave him the shape and the specification ranges (5Cs + table % + depth % + GIA + fluorescence, etc) that I’m looking for. Yes, I am very THOROUGH and very PICKY. Oscars hands down has the best/tight range of specifications on the diamond I was looking for compared to this other store downstairs that showed us several oddball stones (visible inclusion smack dab in the center, an IF stone within specs but has a bad cut and no sparkle, EGL not GIA cert, etc.). So we were cornered to pick between worse or better, but none we were sure of. This makes me feel uneasy and is not acceptable after I specifically indicated what I’m looking for. I find ?Oscar and his staff (Jean Claude and Kaye) very pleasant to work with. Oscar is knowledgeable and patient (at times we were there for hours and left with nothing) and did not push us in anyway to make a purchase. And I like his straightforward approach minus the sales pitch (Robbins Bros – I’m looking at you!). The only downside is that Oscar doesn’t provide free replating. But this is not a big issue to me since I did not get white gold nor do I anticipate to service the ring often. A good quality ring should minimize its maintenance. As the old adage goes, you get what you pay for, so I don’t mind paying a bit for a job well done. Here are some tips that I learned from the ring buying process: 1) Diamond: The CUT of the stone is MOST important and you can sacrifice color and clarity. You can have a gorgeous sparkly stone that reflects light in the G-I color and VS2 or lower clarity that people will not be able to tell on a setting; or you can have a D-F color and VVS2+ clarity that is poorly cut and look dull while paying more $$$. I would definitely pick the former. 2) Experience: Ultimately, the quest for the “perfect” stone is more intuitive than it is technical. Each stone is unique and has its own personality. So try to look through as many stones as you can to train your eyes and get a feel for it, get VERY confused – it’s normal, stop for a few weeks, and start looking again. You will know when you find “the one.” I started by looking for “the best” cut, color, and clarity but even though the one I pick is not the best on paper, I’m absolutely in love with it. 3) Setting: Most stores can make the setting you want BUT after much thought I decided to go with a name brand. Gold is gold Sterling Silver Rings, platinum is platinum, right? Maybe. But I’m not a jeweler nor do I have their expertise. But I know most rings are not pure and are alloys of different metals that affect the quality of the ring. A name brand gives me some sense of security that ?what I have is of good quality and requires the least maintenance. This is where I lucked out to find both the stone AND setting at Oscars.4) Don’t judge a store by its cover: Many times while I was at Oscars I would see couples come in, glance around, and leave while I’m silently thinking, “their loss”. To be honest, I was skeptical about Oscars too in the beginning since they have limited jewelry displayed, and they don’t market themselves as a specialty (i.e. bridal) jewelry store. But most brides or bride-to-bes tend to have an idea of the setting they want from magazine, celebrities, friends’, websites, childhood fantasies, or their own design, etc. So it is not cost effective or logical for stores to have a large display of sample rings.5) Don’t feel obligated to make a purchase no matter how nice and accommodating the sales person is. It’s their job but it’s your hard-earned money.I hope this review helps in your ring hunting stress…err…process. So if you happen to be in the area, check Oscars out. You don’t have anything to lose
After months of searching for the perfect engagement ring, I came across Oscar’s Design Jewelry, and decided to give Oscar a call. I told him what I was looking for and what I wanted to spend. He said to visit the next time I was in California, and that he’d work with me to get me what I want. That was all I needed to hear before settling on buying a ring from him. From just speaking to him over the phone, I could tell that he’s a good guy. ? When my now fiancee and I arrived to his store, Oscar sat down with us and went over all of our options. I tried on a few different styles of a similar look, and decided on the perfect setting. Then it was on to the most important part– the center stone. After a few minutes of inspections and negotiations, I had settled on a beautiful stone, while remaining within my budget. Oscar is genuine and will get you the best possible piece of jewelry your finances will allow. He’s extremely professional, personable, honest and truly cares about his customers. ? I couldn’t be happier with the purchase, my gorgeous ring, the superb service we received and the quality and craftsmanship of my ring. Oscar made me a custom ring that has been getting compliments ever since I took it out in public. I highly recommend Oscar’s, and will definitely be back myself for the wedding band and other pieces as well. Thanks Oscar!
Beautiful diamonds and Oscar is a doll. ?I checked out many different places in the jewelry district and Oscars fit the bill. ?His diamonds are beautiful and he offers many unique settings. ?I told him my budget (which was not that substantial in terms of diamonds) and he didn’t bat an eye or make me feel the fool. ?He has jewelry for every price range, just let him know and he will hook you up. ?My husband and I have been looking for a jeweler that can be our “go-to” guy and Oscar is definitely him.
I went there to see if they could design a custom wedding band for me. Oscar was so busy, one of his hired helping hands was helping us. We showed her our engagement ring as reference, and let me say, she didn’t handle the ring with respect. She shoved it into the ring sizer very hard, dropped it once on the glass, and that was pretty much it. I took back the engagement ring and left.
I have nothing but good things to say about Oscar’s. ?My fiancee and I actually purchased a white sapphire in lieu of a diamond, for both ethical and financial reasons, and then went to Oscar to design the setting. ?We chose him because of the positive reviews on Yelp, and were definitely glad we did. ?He’s friendly, attentive, takes his time with you, and delivers a beautiful, high quality product. ?Oscar never balked over us wanting an alternative to a diamond. ?And I love my ring! ?It’s a beautiful stone in a very classic yet modern setting, and very well made.
Picked out an engagement ring on my own from another place and my wife didn’t like the setting. ?We took the ring to Oscars and he worked with us back and forth for a few months custom designing exactly what my wife wanted. ?He even sat down in front of the computer with us to design the ring in 3D and made several different iterations of the wax mold for us. ?In the end, the ring turned out amazing and he only charged us for the labor in making the ring (allowing us to trade the old platinum setting in for the new platinum). ?He is one of the few who truly cares about his trade and his clients, and he’s the only jeweler I’ll be going to in the future. ?The only downside is the pricey downtown parking.
I came here a second time after I purchased my wife’s engagement ring. ?This time, I bought my wedding band. ?I give Oscar five star for his patience, demeanor, and attitude. I’m not much of a shopper, but my wife IS. ?I can say that we looked all over downtown for 1) quality engagement rings, 2) fair to good prices, 3) good service and quality support. ?I have to say that Oscar’s has all three aspects down to a science. ?When we were shopping for a ring, we compared his rings to Tiffany’s. ?Most of the similar rings at the same price range were of significant lower quality. ?When you compare price to price, you will typically find lower quality diamonds or craftmanship, or lesser service. ?When we came in a second time to purchase my wedding band, Oscar polished and cleaned the engagement ring to a new shine so the ring looked bigger and brighter for the wedding. ?All I have to say is I’m a very satisfied customer and I’m certain Oscar will satisfy you, too.
I stopped into Oscar’s Design Jewelry after visiting several other shops in los angeles and in orange county. Initially i bought my fiance an engagement ring from Michael B.( very expensive/High end) and i bought the engagement bands with it. However the bands were too big and according to every other shop including Michael B. it could not be resized due to having micro pave diamonds all around. Instead, they would have to make new bands and my current bands would only be worth only their materials (essentially worthless). Long story short, i met Oscar and right away he understood my situation and sized the band and also made sure it was identical to the engagement ring and he made sure to keep the design stamp intact. He saved me thousands and was the nicest and most fair priced jeweler that i have met. Dont get me wrong, Michael B was awesome and nice but they are not even on the same level as Oscar. I will be going back to Oscar for all my jewelery in the future.
They have wonderful customer service, were very knowledgeable and are reasonably priced. Would recommend this place over the other stores in the building. Ask for Kay. She’s great!
Thank you so much, Valencia of Oscar’s Design Jewelry for finding us our wedding rings and sticking within our budget. Thank you Oscar. ?He’s got very classy designs that fits any budget. ?Best to go there on weekdays since we got superb service and attention. I will definitely go back for an upgrade when the time comes :) ?Thanks again!
